The following are many of the most frequently asked questions about Syngenta's Advion Cockroach gel bait insecticide. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact your Syngenta territory manager.
How do I apply Advion Cockroach gel bait?
Advion Cockroach gel bait labelled for crack-and-crevice applications indoors, as well as applications to entry points outdoors. The blue cap should be removed from the syringe prior to the application. If desired, the blue applicator tip included in the package may be used to apply the gel in smaller cracks and crevices.
A small dot or line of gel is sufficient for these applications.
What is the difference between Advion Cockroach gel bait and Advion Cockroach bait arena?
The Advion Cockroach gel bait and Advion Cockroach bait arena formulations have different sources of sugars and proteins, and thus attract cockroaches differently. Advion Cockroach gel bait does not contain any of "The Big 8" allergens. Advion Cockroach bait arena contains bait that is more of a solid paste housed in a plastic container, providing protection from contaminants, children and pets.
Additionally, Advion Cockroach bait arena is useful in areas where harsh conditions may compromise gel baits, such as high moisture/humidity, temperature extremes or dust. It can also be useful in sites that are difficult to service regularly.
Why isn't Advion Cockroach gel bait working?
Advion Cockroach gel bait is highly effective against cockroaches. If cockroach bait consumption or control is not occurring, follow these best practices:
Ensure the gel bait has not been contaminated by repellent insecticides, dirt, nicotine, gasoline or other contaminants
Place gel bait as close to cockroach harborage points as possible
Apply appropriate quantities of gel bait to control the infestation
Reduce or remove competing food sources
To prevent the development of insecticide resistance or behavioral aversion to certain food ingredients, Syngenta recommends rotating Advion Cockroach gel bait with Advion Evolution cockroach gel bait and Optigard® Cockroach gel bait, which contain different types of nutrients, attractants and/or active ingredients.
For more information about bait rotation as part of a proven cockroach control protocol, view our SecureChoiceSM Cockroach Assurance Program details, including our Integrated Pest Management Guide.
What is the shelf life of Advion Cockroach gel bait?
The shelf life of any product is largely dependent upon storage conditions. Ideal storage conditions are indoors with minimal temperature and humidity fluctuations. In these conditions, Advion Cockroach gel bait can last up to five years.

How does the MetaActive effect in Advion brand insecticides work?
The MetaActiveTM effect provides targeted control of labeled pests. The active ingredient, indoxacarb, is only activated once ingested by the target pest, meaning non-target organisms are largely unaffected. Watch this video to learn more about the MetaActive effect.
